Hong Kong stocks saw declines from its lower opening narrow by midday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index ended the morning session at 23,196 points, 0.62 percent or 145 points lower, climbing from its 2.7 percent opening dip.

The half-day main board turnover amounted to HK$185.2 billion.

The tech gauge edged down by 0.03 percent, posting 5,787 points by noon.
